Hair straightening (home straightener) hair care products?

Hi there,

I've been straightening my hair for probably three years now. I've had the same hair straightener the whole time, and have never ever used any hair care products with it.

I now have a new hair straightener (It's not wet-to-dry btw, you can only use it on dry hair). the ceramic plates don't feel nearly as soft as my first straightener, so that was disappointing, but anyway...

I don't want to damage my hair any more than I already have, and I was told there are products you can use on your hair to prevent damage from the heat process and stuff.

Now, I have dyed hair as well btw. I use Pantene Pro-V shampoo + conditioner every morning, and Pantene Pro-V 3 minute miracle, every 3 - 9 days (varies).

So what products can I use on my hair to prevent damage from the straightener?

Thank you very much :)Hair straightening (home straightener) hair care products?
The heat protecting spray is a great idea- you spray it on damp hair evenly, then comb it thorugh and let it dry, then lightly spray it again right before you straighten for that extra layer of protection. I know it sounds like alot, but it really does protect your hair if you put enough on.

I like to spray the tresemme on damp hair, let it airdry, then spray the beyond the zone turn up the heat heat protecting spray right before i straighten for added shine:

Also, DONT wash your hair every day. This is bad because the shampoo dries out the natural oils in your hair, which strips your hair of its natural protection. Also, if you don't wahs your hair everyday, you don't have to straighten it all the way every day, which saves you time and damage to your hair. When you take a shower on days you don't wash your hair, just clip it up and touch it up a little bit before you leave.

Pantene is infamous for the layer of wax it creates around your hair from the polymers in it's shampoo/conditioner. TO get rid of this and prevent your hair from becoming greasy, use a clarifying shampoo once a week:

Thank you Allison and Leanne, I loved both of your ideas.

I hate Hamn's ideas... And will continue to wash my hair as per regularly... My hair never gets greasy after a day...

Sorry I didn't get time to pick my own Best Answer, I was on vacation for a week. Thank you guys x

You can use a heat protection spray before you straighten, which will help your hair from getting damaged by the heat. Sounds like you take good care of your hair already though, but I would definately get a heat protection spray.
i love the treseme heat protecting stuff it makes my hair soo soft, its really cheap and smells amazing

plus u can put it on wet or dry hair :)

What hair straightener/hair products are best for permed, African American hair?

I was thinking of using the motions hair products, but if you know of better ones please tell me. I'm also a poor college student who is not used to dealing with their own hair %26gt;.%26gt; I'm a total newbie so plz dumb down anything you tell me.

I don't need to worry about perms-I'll let my beautician handle that. I just can't continue going to her place every two weeks.

Also, how often should I wash my hair? I've heard some say something about a deep conditioner once a week?? Plz help-experts or experienced people only, please. What hair straightener/hair products are best for permed, African American hair?
Motions? lol Oh big no no thats cheap and crapy I know it's used in some salon but no

I have A FHI Iron no not Chi FHI,I use Redken smooth down heat glide serum to protect it

shampoo redken,bedhead and Pantnene tresemme

same as for conditioners

any questions ask me What hair straightener/hair products are best for permed, African American hair?
For your money you can't do much better than Motions After Shampoo Moisture Plus Conditioner after a wash and Wonder 8 Miracle Oil every other day. And believe it or not Frizzease Daily Leave-In Conditioner is great too. Use it just before you blowdry and it will make your hair healthy and bouncy. After that you can flat-iron your hair and the style should last. Just remember to wrap your hair each night and keep it conditioned. It makes a big difference.

Temperature for straightener. hair goes frizzy as hell when i brush it but i dont want to kill it straightenin?

yeah my hair is naturally curly but once i brush it it frizzes up and looks ridiculous. i would straighten it every day, but it takes ages cos my hairs really long %26amp; although i use heat protect spray stuff i dunno if straightening still damages your hair.

MOST IMPORTANTLY my straightener only goes up to 230 degrees and it doesnt straighten properly. is my striaghtener not hot enough or is my hair just retarded?Temperature for straightener. hair goes frizzy as hell when i brush it but i dont want to kill it straightenin?
I have really curly hair too that also frizzes if its brushed or even a hand ran threw it. If your going to straighten your hair you need a good STRAIGHTENER. Chi is a great one they also have a GVP that is a little cheaper around 50 dollars but your going to need one that goes to at least 400 degrees. I straighten my hair everyday and it looks great and I don't have damage.

I have been straighting for 10 years and my hair is healthy.Temperature for straightener. hair goes frizzy as hell when i brush it but i dont want to kill it straightenin?
the key is to not brush your hair. when you get done washing your hair, use a towel to gently squeeze out extra water. use your fingers to separate your curls and part your hair, do not use a brush or comb. add your styling products (curl creme, mousse or something like biosilk) and now leave it to air dry and do not touch til it is completely dry.

you can waste your time battling your curly hair and damaging it with a straightener because straight hair is a 'fad' right now, OR, you can learn to love the natural texture of your hair and style it properly and you will always look good. the choice is yours.
Sometimes it doesn't matter how hot your straightener goes but what's important is the quality of it. I recommend a Chi. They're pretty expensive, but they will straighten any type of hair and pretty quickly. It helps if you straighten by layers, going slowly from root to ends, and try an anti frizz serum.
Well! thats not lfair enough, but u should consult with some specialist. What i can do for u is to just guide u to my trust..

  • Chemical straightener & hair dye & thick hair?

I have rather thick hair. I used to straighten it every day for years, on top of dying it once a month. I stopped straightening my hair, and I've noticed it felt alot better. It's been awhile, and I've gone without straightening it, but I miss that, and I was thinking of getting it chemically done, I just have a few issues. I dye my hair on my own (I don't go to a salon). My hair is rather thick, and so I normally let it air dry, and it can get rather poofy. If I get it chemically straightened, will it be straight and frizzy? Or will it be straight and sleek like it is when I use a flat iron.Chemical straightener %26amp; hair dye %26amp; thick hair?
Your hair will stay straight until the straight perm wears off (it's usually half a year - a year. as your stylist.)

It's usually thin and fresh from the iron for the first few weeks, then it become more of a natural looking straight, (but it's still /really/ straight and still thin.)Chemical straightener %26amp; hair dye %26amp; thick hair?
i'm exactly the same i dye mine all the time, but i have a chemical straighten. if you get a chemical straighten it does get kind of dry but you jut get a really good conditioner and it sort out the problem. if you stopped dying it and got a chemical straighten it would probably be quite straight... mine is, i still use my Straightener but just to style it. it will be straight and it will look really really good, just take care and use good conditioners

    CHI straightener......Hair growth??

mkayy, soo i just got bangs like demi lovato and they are really cute, but my hair is kinda short, sooo i really want to grow it out, ive benn like reaserching and i found this like MEGA nutrient shampoo thats sposed to help your hair grow really fast.....soo is it any good?i think its called fourmula 31...21??

also, are chi straighteners any good, becuase ppl tell me that it like frys your hair and breaks easilyy.....help pleasee!!=]]CHI straightener......Hair growth??
Anything that claims to make your hair grow fast is lying to you. The only thing that can make your hair grow is time, however there are things that you can use to ensure that it grows out healthy.

Any time you use heat on your hair you run the risk of doing some damage.CHI straightener......Hair growth??
well i have had experiences with chi's in the past my advice DON'T get it. 2 of mine caught hire in the socket and my other one the power cord fell out
you can't use the chi irons everyday otherwise they will burn your hair out
    there super good

    i love them
chi straighteners are horrible. they fry your hair and break really easily. everything you've heard is true. trust me. i read the reviews before when i was thinking about getting one, and it made me change my mind.

my sister wouldn't listen, and she asked for one for christmas. so my mom got her one and it broke after literally like 3 days or so. if a bunch of people are reviewing a product the same way, it's probably true! plus even the good reviews it gets a lot of those people still admit that they break and you have to replace them every 6 months to a year. they just said it was worth it, which is completely idiotic if you ask me.

you have to baby your hair if you want it to grow. eat well, drink lots of water, get some exercise, lots of sleep...all the basics. try not to straighten your hair all that often. don't blow dry it on anything over medium heat. low is best, and if you have a cool setting on your dryer, even better. that's what i do. i either blow dry it on the cool setting, or i shower the night before so i don't have to blow dry it at all. then it can air dry, and if i want it straight then i'll do it the next morning. it really helps your hair a lot.

also if you are too impatient in the mean time, just get extensions. euronext is a really good brand. they clip in so they won't damage your hair, and also they last for a very long time. they look great and come in a bunch of different colors, so one is almost guarenteed to match your hair color.
CHI's do not last long. They break way too easily. Don't waste your money, and don't listen to the one's that are telling you it's the best. Sedu is one of the best straighteners out there and it is only $100.

To purcase a Sedu at the cheapest price, go to Folica.com , scroll to the very top and click on Hair Styling. On the left hand side, there will be and A - Z brand list. Find Sedu, click on it, and everything else from there is self - explanitory.

For more information on a Sedu, you can go to sedubeauty.com.

    Curling with a Sedu:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=k57das_c_yi..鈥?/a>

I would also recommend using a 1 inch instead of 1 1/2 inch, because the 1 1/2 doesn't do curls very well.

It reaches 410 degrees, with tempature control if you would like a lower tempature. CHI does not have tempature control. That means if the set tempature is too high for your hair, it can fry.

Celebrities have nice hair, and they don't use CHI. They use Sedu. There is something called Sedu hairstyles on every beauty website. No CHI hairstyles right?

    Never use on wet hair.

Also, on Folica.com, people can post reviews on products after they have tried them. Here are they stats on CHI:

68 people say it is 1 star (bad) out of out of 1202 total reviews.

    Sedu:

21 people say it is 1 star (bad) out of 3775 total reviews.

    That speaks for itself!

If your hair starts to get damaged, turn down the tempature.

    Take a look at this.

    Which straightener/hair dryer is best?

I'm going to Ulta later and I was going to get a new blowdryer and straightener. I was looking at this one for a straightener, http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productD鈥?/a>

I like it because my friend has it and I know it works good. But I was also looking at this one because I like the color http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productD鈥?/a>

which one is better? or are there any other good ones at ulta? and also which hair dryer at Ulta is best?

Thanks :)Which straightener/hair dryer is best?
I love Ulta, if you get a straightner and a blowdryer you should get some of the best ones there, they are expensive, but they last and do a great job.

I have a Chi dryer, omg, its so fast and pretty, its a blue one, while Chi is expensive, it lasts for a good while, so unlike those other products that will dye fast these wont, my dryer works just as well as the first day I used it.

I also have a chi straighner, its fast and awesome, i love Chi, its fast and salon quality.Which straightener/hair dryer is best?
Check out http://www.topstraighteningiron.com. The site has some good information about the best hair straighteners and where you can find them at the lowest price.

What is a good straightener/hair spray?

okay, so my hair is super thick and it's cut like scene hair. (a bunch of short layers if you don't know what it looks like google it or something :p )

anyways, I'd like to find one that can be used on wet hair and gets pretty hot.

also if you know of a good hairspray that holds hair but doesn't leave it crunchy and smells good :D

currently I have bed head masterpiece but it smells funky aha.

so tell me if you know of any.

Thanks you :]What is a good straightener/hair spray?
Straightener: The Instyler is always a great tool when you're dealing with hair.

And honestly, when you use a straightener on wet hair, it really damages your hair.

I'm sorry, but no suggestions for hairspray. Try to get something as natural as it can be: it makes the chemically-smell and crunchiness go away.

Hope this helped!!What is a good straightener/hair spray?
I use Aussie Mega, and Aussie Volumizing hair spray. They both work really well.
Wet2straight Remington straightener is the best i've ever used in my life and it's under $30 at target or walgreens.

For scene hair use RAVE. It's got awesome hold and comes in a HUGE bottle. It's $3 or $4, i can't remember which, but the container is so big it looks like it will never run out.

In what store in USA can I find a GHD straightener hair iron?

i don't think there is any stores. you probably have to buy it online.

Can I bring a hair straightener, hair dryer, and a curling iron in my carry on bag?

    yepppp (:

    have funn.

oh and any liquids, such as perfumes, toothpastes, and lipglosses needs to be in a zip block bag, or they make you throw them away. Can I bring a hair straightener, hair dryer, and a curling iron in my carry on bag?
i dont see any reason why not. they dont really prohibit you from taking that kind of stuff on a plane ( if, that is in fact what youre talking about)...its normally just liquid stuff. ya know, toothpaste, shampoo conditioner...etc etc.Can I bring a hair straightener, hair dryer, and a curling iron in my carry on bag?
I think it is allowed albeit a hassle. They're probably going to make you take them out at every checkpoint. To be safe, call the airport security and they'll tell you for sure.

man wut evrr i just got the chi this october and it works way beddr then any other straightener!! MY HAIR SYLEIST USES IT! I DONT THINK SHE WOULD USE A CRAPPY STRAIGHTENER!! SHE ONLY USES THE BEST!
sedu. sedu is better than chi, it lasts longer than chi, and has gotten way more awards than chi.
    CHI
chi. you can get it at sally beauty or ulta.
i think GHD is pretty good too
    conair!!!
Remington. I dont get any frizzzz = ]
    Sedu
    CHI

    or jose caldron...something like that.
chi is deff the best. It takes the shortest amount of time. chi's can get expensive though so if you are looking for something on the cheap side you might want to go with a remmington. they are cheap and are quick. they are between $30-$40 and whereas a chi is about $120.

I suggest the Sedu, in which I'll be getting very soon. I was curious like you wondering which flat iron I should get and after countless web searching, I came to a conclusion that the Sedu is the one.

Mainly because it gots tons of reviews and everyone says it's better than the CHI. It doesn't frizz your hair, it doesn't snag it, and it makes your hair soft, silky, and shiny.

I heard the CHI breaks easily since my friend had to replace her's 4 times.

Ive tried loadsa my friends cheaper ones GHDs are far better. You wont need loadsa products with it just heat protection spray and cheap shine serum if you like.

    Hello,

I was looking for a good straigtner and bought the Sedu and the solia. The SEDU works better than any other one! The soft plates run down your hair very softly. The Solia one when you pull the straigtner down on your hair it feels ugly. The Chi is over 100US the Sedu is only 80 US and works better! I tried them all! LITERALLY ! lol. And for your wavy hair it will work great! :)

Protection from hair straighteners, hair loss, and straight perms? :O?

    Three questions combined together:

For the past eight months, i;ve been straight ironing my hair just about every morning or night, atleast once a day.i used NO hair protection packs or sprays, just occassional hairspray and i washed my hair just about twice a week. Now i'm in india, and everyone's beginning to ask me why my hair's so thin and how i;ve been losing so much of it. to save my hair and time, im thinking of getting a straIGHT perm. will this affect my hair more? and also, how can i bring back my hair to normal quantity, what products should i use while straightening?

PLEASE HELPPP! :OProtection from hair straighteners, hair loss, and straight perms? :O?
year ago I suffered from hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.

the things that really worked for me was:

    1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

    2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

    3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

    4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

    5) also I used herbal treatment - TrichoZed

It is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.trichozed.info/why.php

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

    good luck!

Ok, well i sugest stop straightening your hair now. To get it back to normal quality true using a hair thickening shampoo and wash your hair daily with it until it's back to how you want it.. I sugest using one of the below types of shampoos/conditioners:

    http://www.newhair.com.au/product_varieties.php?cat_id=6%26amp;prod_id=34

    http://www.myshopping.com.au/PT--217_Hair_Care_Volumising_Thickening_Shampoos__fs_701_1827_e__

    http://www.folica.com/Thickening_249_1.html

And if you still want your hair to be straigthened, there are some other ways to straighten your hair... Maybe try searching it on YouTube:

    http://video.google.com.au/videosearch?hl=en%26amp;ei=vb5mSreOD6CG6AOVptC8CQ%26amp;resnum=0%26amp;q=natural+hair+straightening%26amp;um=1%26amp;ie=UTF-8%26amp;ei=vr5mSvagL9WNkQWZtMn5Ag%26amp;sa=X%26amp;oi=video_result_group%26amp;ct=title%26amp;resnum=4#).

    Good luck!

EDIT: I don't know if the links are going to work, if not try copying and pasting them. =]
You can try to straight it out first, then you can try this first:

1.Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables, which contain flavonoids and antioxidants that may provide protection for the hair follicles and encourage hair growth

2.Avoid pigtails, cornrows, hair weaves, braids and tight hair rollers which can pull and stress your hair

3.# Supplement your diet with the following nutrients:

    * Vitamin B complex (Category A)

    * Biotin (Possibly safe; orally and appropriately)

    * Vitamin C (Category A)

    * Vitamin E ( Likely safe if amount does not exceed the RDA; possibly safe if it does)

    * Zinc (Likely safe when used orally and appropriately; likely unsafe when used orally in high doses)

4.Use shampoos and conditioner that contain biotin and silica.

Nevertheless its all up to you and your way you treat your hair, be gentle on it and don't be so robust with it.

I've had the Remington Wet to Straight and the Chi limited edition pink camo and recently won an FHI Runway through a magazine website. The FHI retails for $450, the Chi for 100 and the Remington for about 20-30. They all seem to do about as well as the other. The FHI is supposed to have tourmaline crystals that can condition your hair. However, so far, I have not seen any impressive results that differed from the Chi. It does seem to heat up a lot quicker and hotter though. Both curl my hair great. Maybe you could try some sort of hair serum or leave-in conditioner spray to help reduce the damage on your hair.Good hair straighteners? Hair sylists plz help.?

i use the ghd on my clients, it holds curls for days!!!! i have brides that slept on their wedding hair and said they woke up with the curls still perfectly curled. they are a lil more expensive but a TON more reliable than those dangs chis, i hate them ive heard more bout them breaking or shorting on a fuse more than any other tool a hairdresser has ever used.
Why don't you buy CHI flat iron. My friends have been using it last few months. They told me its the best.
I wouldn't go with a CHI. I'd go with the Paul Mitchell Ion Smoothing Iron (: It's amazing

    -Paul Mitchell Salon Professional
I adore my CHI, but the main things to look for are even heat-dispersal throughout the plates, a good quality ceramic plate, and varied heat settings. That ensures that you don't have hot spots to fry your hair and that you can adjust the heat if you do notice damage. You also should look into a thermal protecting spray, kinda like a leave-in conditioner, that helps to shield your hair from heat damage. I'm kinda broke so I use TreSemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer spray (I flat-iron my hair almost everyday) and I really like it. I even my mom hooked on it. They also have other styling products designed for use with heat-setting tools like straighteners and blow-dryers. I'm gonna try the Volumizing Mousse next time I go to the store to pick some up.

Chi hair straighteners? Hair straighteners in general?

Im thinking of getting a new straightener and was thinking this one:

    http://www.amazon.com/CHI-Love-Collectio鈥?/a>

I really want a chi one cuz my hair is very difficult

Does anyone have this one, is it good and does it have different heat settings?

Do you have any other Chi brand ones that i can buy online and they ship to Canada, and aren't too expensive, any other brands.

I use this everyday so dont say go to wal mart

Thanks in advanceChi hair straighteners? Hair straighteners in general?
i havent used a chi, but my friends sister owns like 6. she paid over $100 for it, and i paid $40 for my jilbere de paris, and it works better than the chi. Even she said so and she's been using chi for ever! i really recommend Jilbere de Paris, the go up to 450 degrees farenheit and all you have to do it run it over your hair and its straight! I also have veryyyyyyyyyy difficult hair. It is SOOOO abnormally thick and tangles easily. Hairdressers hate me[: and its so long too! crazy! But anyways, this straightener does wonders for me. I usually have to have 2 elastics to keep my hair in a pony, but the straighter keeps it from getting tangled and all thick and poofy, so I can leave it down or use 1 elastic! it is truly amazing. And it makes my ahir all shiny!!!![: completely awesome. So, i must say, after 4 years with my jilbere (SEE how long it lasts?! and its still running like the first day I got it!), i must say go with her. Absoltely amazing!!!!! They sell them on amazon/ebay sally hansen (the store) but not on the website. They run about 30 dollars (black), or if you want the PINK! one (all proceeds to go breast cancer) its $40 (my dad wouldnt let me get it!*tear*)

good luck! But, if you go with CHI, get a warranty. Just saying[: and dont forget a heat protection!! (Beyond the zone in an orange bottle smells SO amazing and is like $5 and works wonders!)

If you live in Miami,go to Jcpenney home store in international or kendall mall and they mini hair dryers and mini hair straightners on the go and don't have to plug in so you could do it in your car and they're cheap and they have regual hairdryers/hairstraightners so come!

Can you bring a hair straightener, hair dryer, nail clippers, etc. on an Amtrak train if in my carry-on?

I'm not sure about the difference in security between a train and a plane. Can you bring a hair straightener, hair dryer, nail clippers, etc. on an Amtrak train if in my carry-on?
Those are all legal on Amtrak. No guns, big knives, explosives, illegal drugs, or animals. Can you bring a hair straightener, hair dryer, nail clippers, etc. on an Amtrak train if in my carry-on?
They say there is security on the trains but there is zero security checkpoints. you can get away with pretty much anything on them. No worries unless it's really truly illegal. then you might get busted in a random search.

What is the best brand/type of hair straightener ( hair iron) available?

Which has really worked for you?? and also please suggest a good hair protectant against heat. What is the best brand/type of hair straightener ( hair iron) available?
I have a Revlon Stlyx and it works ok. The other poster mentioned the Biosilk which is made by the same people as the Chi but its like half the price. Try that one! What is the best brand/type of hair straightener ( hair iron) available?
i use babyliss pro 230 (degrees sign) and i think they are really good, they heat up in about 15 seconds (quicker if you have it on a lower heat) and they always straighten my hair nicely!

tresemme is a good heat defence spray but i think most of them are exactly the same -- just have different smells !!

    Hope this helps =] xx

(also i would suggest not getting cordless ones becuase people have said they dont stay hot long or not the ones which turn themselves off after an amount of time because if it takes you ages to straighten your hair you will have to keep turning them on which is annoying! )
I use the Chi, comes in different sizes and prices. I also use chi products to protect my hair. You can get a majority of the Chi products at a pharmacy. Don't forget hair treatments as well.

Don't use the straightener too frequently, it had made my hair look very dry. I know use it every now and then and continue to protect it and use treatments and it looks great!

    To beautiful hair =)
Hi, I do not straighten my hair as much as I used too. I love, love my 2 inch barrel curling iron by hot tools. It was cheap (30 bucks) from Folica.com and It gives my hair a blown-out look that leaves it with a little wave and much more volume. HOWEVER, I do have a chi which I purchased a few years ago and I love it. The trick I found with straighteners is that you need to make sure you spend enough time on each piece of hair. Running through your hair with your straightener in a hurry will make your hair more prone to curl back up or not look as polished. I try to take my time as I am running my chi through each section of my hair. I always use Kenra heat protectant spray. I love it and its under 20$. I hear rave reviews about the chi protectant spray as well.
Chi! Chi also makes products specifically so they work with the brand of straighteners (the products protect against heat, moisturize, give your hair a sleek and shiny appearance, etc.). The flat iron and products are expensive, but definitely worth it.
Ew. Do not get the CHI. They suck. Honestly I bought one and it worked for like 3 months before it would turn on and off by itself and stuff. My stylist uses a Biosilk flat iron. It works really well and it always makes my hair super smooth.

i use corioliss on a daily basis, and it leaves my hair looking really nice. i've been using it every day for a month, and it works really well. also, i've heard that CHI works really well, but i have never tried it.
I've never actually used this straightener but I follow this beauty guru, itsjudytime, and she always gives excellent tips. You should totally check this out:

    Curlers and straighteners hair?

Is it bad for your hair to burn it into being straight or curly?Curlers and straighteners hair?
yeah its bad to use any sort of heat on your hair. but if you use curlers/straightneners occasionally and use heat protection spray it should be fine, many people do use heated stylers daily but their hair is probably very damaged.Curlers and straighteners hair?
It drys the hair out and makes the ends limp and damaged. The hair will become brittle and break off.
it depends if you know how to use it or not.
    yeah _you'll get spliz end
it depends on your hairstarightener or curling iron.. and how you know hpw to use it.. even if u have the best your hair still gets damaged.. i do it.. but not every day..

    i hope this helps...

i heard im supposed to use some stuff to put in my hair that will stop it form getting damaged or burned? What exaclty is that i need called? and could i get it at a Walgreens? What am I supposed to use before i curl my hair with a straightener? Hair protect thingy?
Heat Protection Spray. I use Toni%26amp;Guy. Chi makes a good serum to put in your hair.

Fructis makes a serum too that works. You could get this at Walgreens.

Where can I get a good hair straightener / hair crimper? And how much will it cost?

I have thick curly hair, and I was wondering where to find a good straightener that actually makes my hair STRAIGHT because the one I have now only makes it wavy. I'm looking for a straightener that can also crimp hair just buy switching the plates.

Oh and please include the price if you find it.Where can I get a good hair straightener / hair crimper? And how much will it cost?
try looking at some at this website

http://www.folica.com/Where can I get a good hair straightener / hair crimper? And how much will it cost?
Maxius has an excellent straightener and it keeps your hair straight without it ever getting frizzy. It cost about $100.00 but is worth it. You might be able to find one cheaper on ebay, but it is the best for curly hair.
the likelyhood is the higher the price the better quality

    i have FHI's

and theyre said to be better than GHD's

    theyre pink aswell

    and theyre only arond 拢60-拢70

Chi is the best thing EVER.
    Sally's Beauty Supply

A good one will cost you $70+

The key is to take extremely small sections. This will allow the heat to penetrate all the hair strands, not just the outer parts of the section. To straighten thick hair it should take about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours. The heat needs to completely penetrate the shaft you must go slowly. Make sure it has a solid ceramic plate, not just coated with ceramic.
wall mart is where i got mine it is purple with orange plates it has like 5 swithch things and it work the best.... i payed 25 dollors.
I would go to a beauty supply store and buy a ';CHI'; straightener. They have many different kinds. Theyre quite expensive but well worth it. Mine has lasted a year and no problems yet. The ones that are under 50 dollars will break within a few months, u will end up spending more money in the long run, plus they dont straighten thick curly hair. CHI will straighten ANY kind of hair, no problem. And it stays straight all day. Invest in it if u can. The price range is usually $100-$200 dollars. Ask for it for the holidays.
I asked my beautician for the price of hers and she said $150.

You should be able to find a regular one for only $20. to $30.

How often should use my straightener hair?

I am a guy. How often is it ok to straighten. How often should use my straightener hair?
    once every 2 months

mark kHow often should use my straightener hair?
If your straightener is ceramic then it won't harm your hair as much and you can do it about every other day. If your straightener is normal metal then you should never really do it. But if you must once a week.
    as often as you like,

    i straighten my hair everyday,

just be sure to use a straightening cream if you'd like your hair to stay nice and not get as damaged!

    :)
    Everyday.

But if your ends are beginning to split or become dry and hard it is time for a trim.

you can also use heat treatment to help protect your hair.
I would say at most once a day, make sure you condition your hair well so it doesnt dry out.

You should only need to straighten it after its been washed anyway.
Everyone should really only use a type of iron on their hair once or twice a week. It is really unhealthy to use more because then your ends will become fried within 6 weeks.
    I'm a guy

    i straighten my hair 5 days a week :o

which is bad. but i do use heat protectants

maybe everyother day would be good.
well now they have heat protectant that can realy help so that your hair does not get weak or dried out t all....so may 4X a week no more ....go natural
I straighten them just after l wash my hairs. And if you take my advice, don't straighten them very often. It's really bad.
i am a girl and i straighten it almost everyday but i think it is really bad for your hair
    i straighten mine every day
im a girl and i straighten it everyday..but its reaalllyyyy bad for your hair

Question about straighteners? Hair stylists please help?

What is a good straightener that is inexpensive.

I know CHI is good but it's wayyy to expenisve.

also, are the gold plates better than the silver ones?

and is ceramic coating just as good as ceramic plates?Question about straighteners? Hair stylists please help?

Good Luck!!Question about straighteners? Hair stylists please help?
i have a really good wet-2-straight one its really nice and didnt cost that much im not sure the brand thoe SORRY!
No they aren't. If you buy a cheap one, you are throwing your money away. You should save up for a good ceramic iron, you will be glad you did.
Well it depends on what you mean by expensice Sally Hanson has some really nice ones that I have for $40 and it works really nicely..also idk the difference between the plates but the gold ones always seem to work better for me.
Go to a beauty Supply store and ask them if they could help you. Gold and Silver plates are the same. You want a ceramic/ionic straightner. And always use a straightner protector.
Well, I'm no professional stylist but I can let you know that Duane Reade actually sells flat irons that only cost like $30 for like a Conair brand and I bought one with 30 heat settings that is a ceramic heat iron and works really well with any type of hair. Also, to go w/that there is a great line of John Frieda hair products that are good for straightening hair with flat irons and blow dryers. Check them out! My favorite product is the frizz ease blow dry cream.
plates make a small difference try the chi one if you can save up 100 dollars

Umm, conair straighteners light up (a small screen) when they get hot. Conair straighteners are the best to use, becaause they help reduce getting more split ends. Conair hairstraighteners have ceramic, which is way better for you hair. Besides this im not sure what your talking about.. sorry.. Hope this helps
bedhead! i like how they light up---i want one.
